Job Description

Under general supervision, performs a variety of maintenance and repair tasks in the City of Santa Ana Corporate Yard facility. This classification has a focus in general maintenance and repair work in the City of Santa Ana Corporate Yard facility. Incumbents perform manual labor under supervision and operate and maintain various tools and equipment. Incumbents are primarily responsible for the upkeep of this facility, including offices, store, mechanic shop, gym, gas station, car wash, vehicle area, and facility perimeter. Maintains and repairs the City of Santa Ana Corporate Yard facility by performing unskilled, semi-skilled, and skilled tasks, including but not limited to pipefitting, plumbing, masonry, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general construction work Installs, inspects, maintains, and repairs facilities, including but not limited to plaster, asphalt, concrete, brick, tile, and block surfaces and flooring; gates, fences, and related structures; doorframes and other internal structures; electrical circuits and light fixtures; irrigation systems, including controllers, moisture sensors, and remote control valves; fuel underground tank, islands, and pumps, including hoses, nozzles, and clarifiers; compressors, oil tanks, and waste water tanks; and electrical and plumbing equipment Completes, tracks, and maintains records regarding assignments, job orders, and facility work order requests; and uses computer and other electronic devices to input data and retrieve work orders Operates, maintains, and stores a variety of hand power tools and equipment, including forklifts, power sprays, paint stripers, drills, floor buffers, vacuums, and blowers; checks, maintains, services, and keeps inventory of work equipment and tools; and works with related chemicals Maintains facility markings and signage, including painting vehicle lane lines, parking spaces, and stop legends Operates backhoe to clean wash racks, material bins, and transfer station Pumps out waste water in all facility vaults and tanks, and maintains and organizes transfer station area to ensure compliance with the county inspections Cleans and clears storm drains to ensure proper drainage Cleans, inspects, and performs necessary maintenance at the vehicle wash station. Cleans and maintains gym facility and equipment Assists with hazmat and surplus pick-ups and deliveries Sets-up traffic signage, safety devices, and barricades, and assists with setting up facilities and parking for City meetings and events, including personnel testing Transports facility materials and supplies; and ensures facility cleanliness and that no illegal waste is dumped in bins Responds to emergency requests during and after work hours May assist with maintenance and repair work at City property May assist with Corporate Yard store duties Performs other duties as assigned One (1) year of laboring or related experience involving construction, maintenance, and repair of facilities. High school diploma or GED certificate. Experience, education, and training must provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below.
