HI USA is a national nonprofit organization that believes in the power of travel to foster a deeper understanding of people, places, and the world around us. For more than 80 years, we have provided affordable hostel accommodations that bring together travelers from across the country and around the world. We are currently seeking a full-time Maintenance Associate for our Santa Monica hostel. This position is responsible for helping keep the property in excellent condition through timely repairs, routine maintenance, and preventative upkeep. The ideal candidate is dependable, hands-on, comfortable working independently and as part of a team, and has prior general maintenance experience. Weekend availability is required.Position Details:

Perform routine maintenance throughout the property, including grounds maintenance, building repairs, renovations, and preventative maintenance Maintain the physical condition of the hostel to HI USA standards, helping ensure a positive guest experience Complete and document work orders promptly and accurately Maintain an ongoing list of maintenance projects and help plan daily, weekly, and monthly work to ensure timely completion Perform general repairs, including painting, drywall repair, minor plumbing and electrical work, and other building maintenance Interact and coordinate with maintenance vendors as needed Perform janitorial duties and support housekeeping as needed Assist with special projects or duties as assignedSkills/Qualifications:
General maintenance knowledge, including painting, drywall repair, minor plumbing, electrical repair, and general building upkeep Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills Sound judgment and ability to work independently or with minimal supervision Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and troubleshoot common maintenance issues Ability to work effectively as part of a team and interact with guests, coworkers, and vendors Physical capability to perform maintenance duties, including lifting, climbing ladders, and extended standing Weekend availability required High school diploma or GED preferredPhysical Requirements:
Regularly required to use hands and arms, stand, walk, sit, stoop, crouch, talk, and hear Occasionally required to climb ladders, balance, access crawl spaces, or stand for extended periods Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds Specific vision abilities required include close and peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
