Job Description
Summary This position is located in Seasonal Staffing Office-Joshua Tree National Park, in the Building and Utilities Division. The selectee will perform recurring building and or utility and operation duties and to assist journeymen and other higher graded maintenance workers. Duties The Pacific West Region is recruiting forTEMPORARY
seasonal positions not to exceed 1039 hours work in a service year. Dates of employment will vary between park sites depending on funding, weather conditions and visitation. Within regulatory limitations, the length of initial appointment may be shortened or extended depending on work availability and funding. Performs Maintenance Worker Leader (Trails) duties such as: Leader- This position is a working leader of a trail crew.
- Performs and leads workers in rigging operations including planning, selecting, assembling, and installing weight handling gear. Knowledgeable in strengths, capabilities, and working load limits of equipment and materials used in rigging operations. Maintains and repairs rigging equipment and recognizes unsafe equipment and removing from service. Carpentry
- Performs and leads carpentry work, primarily using heavy log and rough-sawn lumber, in the construction, stabilization, and maintenance to historic and non-historic structures. Maintenance/Laborer
- Performs and leads general light maintenance tasks on park trails.

Accordingly, non-competitive rehire eligibility allows for re-appointment to the same position or another position appropriate for temporary appointment with the same qualification requirements (5 CFR 316.402[b][7]), based on series and grade, anywhere in the major subdivision (NPS). If you have held a temporary seasonal appointment in the past 12 months and have already worked the maximum temporary appointment less than 1040 hours during that period, you are still welcome to apply. However, please be aware that exceeding the limit of 1040 hours in your established service year will result in the loss of your non-competitive rehire eligibility.
