Maintenance Worker Jail Division Hiring Range:
$5,869- $7,159 Monthly $70,428
- $85,908
Annually Salary Range:
$5,869- $8,449 Monthly $70,428
- $101,388 Annually Jail Maintenance Worker performs skilled technical maintenance and major repair work on the plumbing, electrical systems, and security systems to include detention locks and CCTV equipment within the corrections facility under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor .

Performs repairs and maintenance on the Corrections Facility and equipment, including electrical and mechanical systems, minor remodeling projects and carpentry work. Assists with project planning, estimates, needed materials, time and labor, and ensures that appropriate materials, tools, and equipment are available and used properly. Assigns and monitors work to assure efficient workflow. Assists in keeping premises in an orderly condition. Directs and trains less experienced personnel in the construction and maintenance trades. Operates and performs maintenance on tools and equipment. Reads, interprets, and works from blueprints, diagrams, and engineering sketches. Performs related work as required. Must be willing to participate in on-call rotation. High school graduate or equivalent. Four years of maintenance experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's license.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of the use of materials, equipment, and procedures necessary for building and grounds maintenance. Thorough knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to building and grounds maintenance. Skilled in the operation of tools and equipment required by the position. Preferred experience in the commercial maintenance field, repair of food service and laundry equipment. Must possess solid skills in plumbing, electrical and carpentry. Ability to work effectively with employees, inmate trusties, other agencies, and the public. Must be able to successfully pass a thorough background investigation, polygraph, drug screen and medical physicaFUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1 Vision- Dual vision is not required. Single eye correctable vision is acceptable. Minimum peripheral vision for single vision is 90 0 on the ear side and 70 0 on the nose side. 2. Hearing
- Dual hearing is required.
- Intact. Occasionally, it uses the olfactory sense to evaluate the presence of toxic vapors, smoke, and fuels. 4. Speech
- Must have the ability to fluently speak and understand English. Constantly uses voice to communicate with inmates, officers, professionals, prisoners, and the public in person and by telephone and two-way radio. Clear diction and audible volume are required. 5. Body Movement
- Must have mobility of both arms and legs to move around the work area unassisted.
- Constantly must have dexterity in hands to pick up small items and be able to grip and operate various sized hand and power tools. Frequently uses hands to write and use a keyboard. Frequently will use arms and hands to change overhead lamps and light bulbs. Constantly must be able to use keys to open doors throughout the Jail. b. Legs and Lower Body
- Frequently must be able to climb stairs to respond to inmate cells.
- Frequently must be able to lift and carry cartons containing maintenance supplies or machinery parts 0 to 50 pounds.
