Entry Level Definition:
The Maintenance Laborer is responsible for performing landscape maintenance tasks and ensuring the upkeep of equipment and properties. This position works under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Foreman and indirect supervision of the Maintenance Operations Manager.
Supervision Received and Exercised:
Direct supervision from the Maintenance Foreman. Indirect supervision from the Maintenance Operations Manager.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
The ideal candidate must be able to follow directions and perform tasks such as mowing, trimming, edging, blowing, and weeding. They should also be capable of performing minor equipment repairs in the field and demonstrate great attention to detail.
Knowledge and Abilities:
Entry-level position; landscape maintenance experience is a plus. Familiarity with basic landscape maintenance equipment. Reliable transportation to and from work. Ability to communicate professionally with the Mow Crew Foreman and team members.
Essential Functions/Areas of Accountability:
Maintain a positive and driven work ethic. Follow directions from the Mow Crew Foreman to complete tasks efficiently. Communicate progress and issues with the Mow Crew Foreman. Ensure daily cleanliness of all mowing equipment, trucks, and trailers. Maintain the overall appearance of assigned properties.
Safety Responsibilities:
Report all safety issues related to equipment, trucks, and trailers. Ensure the security of equipment on job sites and in the equipment yard. Promote safe operation of equipment and safe work practices among the crew. Maintain a clean and safe environment in the yard for all workers.
Physical/Environmental Demands:
Moderate to heavy physical work in all weather conditions. Frequent standing, stooping, walking, and lifting heavy objects (up to 75 pounds).
Licenses/Certifications:
Valid driver's license is a plus.
