  • The Children's Center of Hamden Hamden, CT | Full-Time | Non-Exempt Keep Our Campus Safe, Functional, and Thriving The Children's Center of Hamden is seeking a dependable and skilled Maintenance Worker to support the daily operations of our facilities and grounds.
In this role, you'll perform a variety of hands-on maintenance tasks—including carpentry, plumbing, electrical repairs, and general upkeep—to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for the children and families we serve. What You'll Do As a Maintenance Worker, you will: Perform carpentry work, including installing and repairing doors, windows, furniture, and fixtures. Complete painting and patching tasks to maintain building interiors and exteriors. Conduct basic plumbing repairs such as fixing leaks, replacing fixtures, and clearing drains. Perform minor electrical work, including replacing switches, outlets, and light fixtures. Carry out masonry repairs on concrete, brick, and walkways. Maintain cleanliness of buildings and grounds, including bathrooms, floors, and common areas. Perform landscaping duties such as mowing, trimming, and seasonal cleanup. Handle seasonal responsibilities including snow removal, sanding, and salting walkways. Inspect, maintain, and safely store tools and equipment. Identify and report safety concerns to maintain a secure environment. Operate agency vehicles as needed (requires appropriate licensure). Maintain professional boundaries with youth and families in accordance with agency policies. Support a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all students and staff. Perform other related duties as assigned. What We're Looking For High School Diploma or Trade School Certification required. Minimum of 3 years of building repair or maintenance experience. Working knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, and basic electrical systems. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks. Strong attention to safety and detail. Valid driver's license required; ability to obtain Public Service Driver's License. Physical & Work Environment Requirements Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, bending, climbing, and lifting over 50 pounds. Ability to perform overhead work using ladders and equipment. Regular use of tools requiring repetitive motion, pushing, and pulling. Work takes place both indoors and outdoors in varying conditions.
