Facilities Technician (Entry-Level) Job Description The Facilities Technician supports daily building operations at a training center by performing basic maintenance tasks and light upkeep, ensuring a clean, safe, and functional environment for employees and visitors. This entry-level role suits someone early in their facilities career who is reliable, mechanically inclined, hands-on, and eager to learn building maintenance and operations. Responsibilities Perform basic building maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, completing minor repairs, and conducting routine upkeep throughout the facility. Conduct daily facility walkthroughs of common areas, classrooms, restrooms, and mechanical spaces to identify maintenance issues and cleanliness needs. Carry out general cleaning and upkeep, including light janitorial duties, organizing storage areas, and maintaining a tidy and presentable environment. Assist with vendor coordination by escorting vendors, communicating basic maintenance needs, and ensuring work areas are prepared for scheduled work. Support safety and compliance by reporting hazards, following established safety protocols, and helping maintain facility readiness for training events. Set up and break down event and training spaces by moving tables and chairs, preparing rooms, and ensuring spaces are ready for scheduled sessions. Complete assigned work orders promptly, documenting tasks performed and reporting issues to leadership or appropriate contacts. Support preventive maintenance activities by performing simple inspections and basic upkeep on building systems and equipment as directed. Use hand tools and basic equipment safely for tasks related to carpentry, painting, drywall patching, and general repairs. Assist with basic plumbing, electrical, and HVAC-related tasks under guidance, such as checking fixtures, filters, or simple components. Maintain mechanical and facilities areas in an orderly condition, ensuring tools, supplies, and materials are stored properly. Essential Skills Demonstrated reliability, including consistent attendance, following direction, and completing tasks on time. Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand tools, ladders, and performing simple repairs. Ability to perform general building maintenance, including changing light bulbs and minor repair tasks. Attention to detail with the ability to notice issues early and keep the building clean, safe, and presentable. Customer service mindset, with a friendly, helpful, and responsive approach to supporting staff and visitors. Understanding of basic safety practices and willingness to follow all safety protocols and procedures. Physical capability to lift approximately 25-50 pounds, climb ladders, and move furniture and equipment as needed. Comfort performing janitorial and general cleaning duties as part of overall facilities upkeep. Additional Skills & Qualifications Interest in facilities maintenance, building operations, or a maintenance technician career path. Willingness to learn and be trained on more advanced facilities tasks, including preventive maintenance and vendor interaction. Basic familiarity with plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and mechanical systems, even at an introductory level. Experience or comfort with painting, drywall patching, carpentry, and general repair work is beneficial. Ability to work independently, manage self-directed tasks, and prioritize daily responsibilities. Strong communication skills to document work orders and report issues clearly to leadership or appropriate contacts. Why Work Here? Work involves regular use of hand tools, ladders, and basic equipment, as well as moving tables, chairs, and other furnishings to support training events and daily operations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Brentwood, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
