Job Description

Under direct supervision, the purpose of the position is to provide organization, sanitation, and general maintenance in the assigned area of the assigned Department. Employees in this classification perform general and preventative maintenance work. Position is responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of supplies in the assigned areas. This full-time, maintenance worker position plays an important role in the everyday operation of the division. The regular schedule for the position is Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM until 2:30PM. Maintenance workers may have to work nights and weekends as needed. It is their responsibility to open their assigned parks, perform maintenance at their assigned facilities as well as making sure there are no safety issues and contact their supervisor about. They are the backbone of the maintenance crew they complete the day to day tasks that are assigned to, assists with city and department events and other assigned duties. Without this position the level of service and standards we currently have would suffer. The Neighborhood Parks Division consists of 43 parks, 6 athletics fields, numerous pavilions, and other areas the department is responsible for. This position may be assigned to other Parks locations as needed based on department operations. Days/Hours - Monday through Friday, 6 AM - 2:30 PM Opening of park facilities. Inspecting park facilities for any safety issues that may be present. Sprays for weeds and other plant material. Painting of athletic fields. Brings equipment out to West side for repairs and maintenance. Mows athletic field. Pick stick trash around the park. Clean restrooms. Pressure clean park amenities. Fill out daily logs and complete weekly inspections. Complete basic landscape maintenance. Work in group projects. Drag and line ball fields. Remove trash from trash cans. Pickup landscape debris. Drag and line ballfields. Sets up and breakdown halls and rental facilities. High school diploma or GED preferred. Demonstrated ability to fulfill the physical requirements of the work; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Previous experience in facilities maintenance and working knowledge of tools and equipment related to maintenance and repair work of facilities. Valid Florida Driver's License and acceptable driving record. Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office or meeting and training rooms, e.g., use of safe work place practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations, and traffic signals when driving.
