JOB SUMMARY
Semi-skilled and manual work in maintaining various grounds, fields, and facilities. Work is performed under general supervision. Overtime may be required in call out situations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain various grounds, fields, and parks by performing mowing, weeding, tilling, raking, digging and other manual labor tasks. Installs turf and seeds fields, parks and other grounds. Assists with the maintenance of equipment and facilities by performing manual labor and semi-skilled work. Performs litter control functions, cleans restrooms, sets up picnic and other areas. Operates equipment and performs preventative maintenance functions on equipment used. Able to use all non-powered hand tools in the course of their duties. Able to use powered grounds equipment, weed whackers, blowers etc. Operate City Vehicles (Class E) on Roads and Highways in the normal course of their duties. May drive but not operate the Boom lift (Bucket Truck), Maintenance I can be second body on the ground for safety. Performs other duties as required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED equivalent. One (1) year of ground maintenance experience. A comparable amount of training, education or experience can be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
CERTIFICATES & LICENSES
Valid Florida Drivers License for required travel.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of landscape maintenance, turf installation, tools, and equipment to do related work. Knowledge of groundskeeping practices and principles. Ability to perform heavy manual labor under various weather conditions. Rev. 01/2025 Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Knowledge and skill in the operation and preventative maintenance of equipment and related tools. Ability to be trained and then exhibit proficiency on the operation of Zero Turn Mowers and Edging Machines. Proficient in the safe operation of hand tools and small equipment. Capable of performing basic mathematical calculations. Demonstrates professionalism and courtesy when interacting with the public. Ability to identify and report equipment malfunctions. Competent in performing basic maintenance on hand tools and small equipment. Knowledgeable in the environmentally safe handling of cleaning supplies.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires medium to heavy work that involves walking or standing virtually all the time. The job involves exerting between 50 and 80 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis, up to 150 pounds on occasion. The job requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, speaking, color perception, depth perception, and texture perception. While performing the duties of this job, the employee mainly works in outside weather conditions and is frequently exposed to extreme heat. The employee occasionally works in high and/or precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
WORK SCHEDULE
Full Time, includes weekends.
SALARY:
