Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM; nights and weekends as required by operational needs About the Position We are a shipping and terminal operation seeking a dependable, motivated, and hands-on Equipment Maintenance Technician / Mechanic Helper to assist our Lead Mechanic with the maintenance and repair of approximately 40 forklifts, 15 yard mules/tractors, and other terminal and support equipment. We are looking for someone who is mechanically inclined, versatile, handy, and willing to work. You do not need to be an expert mechanic, but you should have hands-on experience, be comfortable using tools, and be willing to perform a variety of mechanical and general maintenance work. Responsibilities Assist with troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of forklifts, yard mules, and other equipment. Perform oil/filter changes, lubrication, fluid checks, inspections, and preventative maintenance. Assist with mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, hose, tire, and general equipment repairs. Perform painting, cleaning, washing, minor repairs, and equipment refurbishment. Use hand and power tools and assist with welding/fabrication when qualified. Assist with larger mechanical repairs and projects as needed. Maintain tools, parts, supplies, equipment, and work areas in a clean and organized manner. Perform other equipment and general maintenance duties as required. Qualifications Previous experience in forklift, diesel, heavy equipment, industrial, fleet, marine, or general mechanical maintenance preferred. Automotive mechanical experience with transferable skills will also be considered. Mechanically inclined, handy, versatile, and comfortable performing physical/manual work. Experience with tools, preventative maintenance, hydraulics, hoses, welding, painting, or equipment repair is a plus. Able and willing to learn new skills and perform different types of work. Dependable, motivated, responsible, and a team player. Able to follow direction while also working independently when given a task. Able to lift, bend, kneel, climb, and safely perform physical maintenance work. Valid driver's license preferred. What We're Looking For We want a versatile, hands-on person with a strong work ethic who is willing to help wherever needed. Work may range from assisting with forklift or yard-mule repairs and preventative maintenance to changing oil, replacing hoses, painting, cleaning equipment, or helping with larger mechanical projects. The right person is motivated, dependable, handy, willing to learn, and not afraid to get their hands dirty.
Pay:
$18.00 - $25.00 per hour
