Fall 2026 Overview The Sexton will ensure the efficient running and upkeep of our bustling physical plant in conjunction with the clergy, staff, and junior warden in a manner consistent with the mission, goals, and objectives of Emmanuel Episcopal Church. The right individual will be organised and motivated, flexible, have good communication skills, and work well on a small team. All diocesan and parish policies and practices must be known and adhered to. Qualifications and skills desired Basic handyman/repair skills Ability to be on one's feet for an extended period of time and to lift objects that may be heavy (within reason) Ability to work occasional weekends as required Additional certification is an asset but not a requirement (ex. electrical, plumbing, carpentry, etc.) Major responsibilities Preventative maintenance and minor repairs for all buildings (ex. Changing air filters based on HVAC recommendations; repairs as directed by Jr Warden; repair or campus improvement recommendations) Set up and tear-down for parish events Interfacing with contractors on larger jobs, in conjunction with the Junior Warden (ex. Soliciting bids; granting access to the building/property) Keep maintenance closet organised and accessible Make sure garbage and recycling bins are taken to the curb and replaced Provides oversight of all other contractors such as lawn maintenance, pest control, cleaners, etc. Ensures that there is a 30 day supply of cleaning and maintenance supplies, including needs for restrooms and kitchen Produce monthly maintenance reports highlighting what work was done and flagging potential issues for consideration

HOURS:

10 hours per week; up to 15 as needed

PAY:

$20 per hour
