- Venice, FL Position Summary The Hotel Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the hotel's guest rooms, public areas, and exterior grounds to ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for guests and employees.
This position performs preventative maintenance, responds promptly to maintenance requests, and helps ensure the property meets IHG brand standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform routine preventative maintenance throughout the hotel. Respond promptly to guest room maintenance requests. Repair and maintain plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and mechanical systems. Troubleshoot and repair lighting, outlets, switches, faucets, toilets, sinks, and showers. Perform painting, drywall repair, caulking, and touch-up work. Repair or replace door hardware, locks, hinges, and windows. Maintain hotel furniture, fixtures, and equipment. Inspect and maintain the swimming pool area in accordance with local health and safety regulations (if certified or trained). Perform landscaping and exterior property maintenance as needed. Ensure parking lots, sidewalks, and building exterior remain clean and safe. Conduct daily property inspections and document maintenance issues. Complete preventative maintenance schedules for guest rooms and public spaces. Assist with renovation projects and room refreshes. Maintain hotel equipment, tools, and maintenance inventory. Respond to emergency maintenance situations during scheduled shifts. Follow all OSHA safety standards, company policies, and IHG brand requirements. Work with housekeeping and front desk teams to prioritize room availability. Keep accurate records of completed work orders and maintenance activities. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Previous hotel maintenance experience preferred. Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and painting. Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment and hand tools. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings as business needs require. Physical Requirements Frequently stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, kneel, and lift. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Comfortable working with cleaning chemicals, maintenance equipment, and power tools. Ability to respond quickly to maintenance emergencies. Performance Expectations Complete guest maintenance requests promptly and professionally. Maintain guest satisfaction by minimizing room downtime. Follow all preventive maintenance schedules. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and IHG brand standards. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance shop. Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and a positive attitude.
