Manages and assists with the completion of custodial duties and prepares necessary equipment and supplies. Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment. Operates necessary equipment required to clean and maintain facility buildings and/or grounds. Assists with preparation of facilities and equipment for various programs and special events. Performs other related duties as required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of the policies, procedures and activities of the Leisure Services Department as they pertain to the performance of duties relating to the position of Maintenance Worker I. Knowledge of the terminology used within the department. Knowledge of building, grounds and custodial maintenance methods and practices, departmental rules, regulations, and various cleaning chemical and procedures as required in the performance of daily duties. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and other staff members. Ability to use independent judgment in routine and non-routine situations. Ability to handle required mathematical calculations. Ability to plan, organize and/or prioritize daily assignments and work activities. Ability to comprehend and apply regulations and procedures of the department. Ability to operate specialized cleaning equipment and various hand tools. Ability to operate department motor vehicles. Purpose of Job The purpose of this job is to perform custodial tasks and occasional light maintenance for facilities in the Leisure Services Department.Job Related Requirements Sandy Creek Park Work Schedule:
This position typically works 4 shifts per week, reporting for each workday one hour before the facility opens to the public. Work days for this position are typically 5 hour shifts on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday each week, with the occasional adjustment for programs and special events. Facility operating hours are 7:00 AM-8:30 PM. Hours are subject to change according to the season. May be required to work on religious holidays. Regular and predictable attendance is required. Must work cooperatively with others. When requirements include vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by ACC's safe driving policy. High school diploma or equivalent with six months custodial, general maintenance or related experience required; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position. Must have or obtain within six months of hire date CRP/AED/First Aid for adults and pediatrics and maintain these trainings throughout employment.
