Maintenance Assistant / Activities & Transportation Assistant The Maintenance Assistant / Activities & Transportation Assistant performs semi-skilled maintenance tasks related to the upkeep and repair of the community's building, grounds, equipment, and appliances, while also providing resident transportation and supporting activities programming. This position is approximately 50% maintenance and 50% van driving and activities support , as delegated by the Maintenance Director and Life Enrichment Director. Responsibilities Maintenance - Approximately 50% Safely operate tools and machines commonly used in the maintenance and building trades. Order materials as directed and place and receive phone calls related to maintenance needs. Make repairs to the building, equipment, and appliances as directed. Disassemble and move furniture throughout the community. Review maintenance logs and work orders to ensure prompt response to maintenance requests. Perform preventative maintenance tasks as directed. Prepare and paint surfaces throughout the community. Maintain exterior grounds, including assisting with shoveling, landscaping, and trash collection and removal. Perform basic electrical tasks, including changing light bulbs throughout the community. Assist the Maintenance Director with conducting resident safety drills. Assist with the community vehicle maintenance schedule and ensure vehicles are clean, safe, and properly maintained. Transportation & Activities - Approximately 50% Safely transport residents in the community vehicle to appointments, outings, shopping trips, and other scheduled activities. Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for residents while providing transportation. Assist with loading and unloading residents and mobility equipment as needed. Follow all community transportation and vehicle safety procedures. Assist the Life Enrichment team with planning, setting up, and facilitating resident activities and events. Help prepare activity areas, supplies, and equipment before and after programs. Encourage resident participation and engagement in activities and outings. Assist with community events, special programs, and resident outings. Build positive relationships with residents and provide friendly, respectful, and compassionate service. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements High School Diploma or GED required. Two years of previous experience in maintenance, building operations, activities, transportation, or a related field preferred. Must have knowledge of basic building maintenance practices, tools, and materials. Valid driver's license with a safe driving record required. Ability to safely operate a community passenger van and transport residents. Ability to work effectively with older adults and demonstrate patience, professionalism, and a positive attitude. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and complete tasks. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to complete assignments thoroughly and on time. Ability to work well independently and as part of a team. Polite and courteous to all residents, visitors, co-workers, and members of the management team. Must maintain resident confidentiality at all times. Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, bend, grasp, push, and pull for extended periods. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and carry heavy objects for up to 50 feet. Complete all required in-services in a timely manner and attend mandatory staff meetings. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
