Maintenance Worker Job Title Maintenance Worker FLSA Status Non-Exempt (Hourly) Reports To Store Management, General Manager Position Summary The Maintenance Worker is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, safety, and functionality of company property, facilities, fuel islands, fuel dispensers, and surrounding grounds. This position ensures that customers are provided with a clean, safe, and professional environment at all times while assisting with general maintenance and repair needs throughout the property. The Maintenance Worker may also be required to assist with general store operations, including cleaning, stocking, organizing merchandise, and other duties as assigned when maintenance tasks have been completed or operational needs require additional support. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesGrounds Maintenance Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of all company grounds, parking lots, sidewalks, and landscaped areas. Pick up litter, debris, and other hazards throughout the property. Empty and replace trash bags in all exterior trash receptacles. Clean and maintain outdoor customer areas. Ensure entrances, walkways, parking areas, and other public spaces remain clean and free of hazards. Assist with seasonal grounds maintenance as directed by management. Fuel Island and Pump Maintenance Clean fuel dispensers, fuel islands, pump handles, card readers, and surrounding areas daily. Remove fuel spills, stains, gum, and debris from fueling areas in accordance with company safety procedures. Clean spill buckets and ensure they remain free of water, fuel, debris, and other contaminants. Inspect and clean around and inside submersible pump (sub-pump) containment areas as required, ensuring they remain free of standing water, fuel residue, trash, and debris. Monitor spill buckets and sub-pump areas for signs of leaks, damage, or environmental concerns and immediately report issues to management. Inspect fuel dispensers regularly for cleanliness, damage, and operational issues. Report fuel dispenser malfunctions, leaks, damaged equipment, or safety concerns immediately to management. Perform minor repairs and maintenance to fuel dispensers and fuel island equipment when authorized. Replace pump receipt paper as needed. Ensure all fuel island signage, safety equipment, and trash receptacles remain clean and in good condition. Maintain the overall appearance of the fuel islands to company standards. Assist with troubleshooting fuel dispenser issues and coordinating repairs when necessary. General Maintenance and Repairs Perform routine maintenance and repairs throughout company facilities and property. Repair or replace damaged fixtures, equipment, signs, and other property components as directed. Perform basic carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical repairs within the scope of training and authorization. Assist with maintenance of store equipment and facilities. Identify and report maintenance issues requiring specialized service or contractor support. Maintain tools, supplies, and maintenance equipment in good working order. Assist with store improvement projects, installations, and other maintenance-related tasks as assigned. Store Support Responsibilities Assist store staff with stocking shelves, coolers, displays, and other merchandise as directed by management. Assist with cleaning and maintaining the interior of the store, including floors, restrooms, windows, counters, and customer areas when needed. Help receive, organize, and store inventory deliveries as assigned. Assist with moving merchandise, equipment, and supplies throughout the facility. Support store operations during busy periods, employee absences, or staffing shortages as directed by management. Perform general housekeeping duties to maintain a clean, safe, and professional environment both inside and outside the facility. Assist with organizing stockrooms, storage areas, and maintenance supply areas. Work cooperatively with store employees and management to ensure daily operational needs are met. Provide courteous and professional assistance to customers when appropriate. Perform other duties as assigned by management to support business operations. Environmental and Safety Compliance Assist in maintaining compliance with environmental regulations related to underground storage tanks (USTs), fuel dispensers, spill prevention equipment, and fuel handling procedures. Immediately report any suspected fuel leaks, equipment failures, environmental hazards, or unsafe conditions to management. Follow all company safety policies and procedures. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required. Maintain a safe work environment for employees, customers, vendors, and contractors. Qualifications Basic knowledge of mechanical repairs, plumbing, electrical systems, and general maintenance practices. Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Valid driver's license preferred. Reliable transportation required. Ability to follow instructions, complete assigned tasks, and maintain a safe work environment. Willingness to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and heavier items with assistance when necessary. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and perform physical labor for extended periods. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions. Ability to safely perform maintenance tasks involving tools, equipment, and fuel-related systems. Performance Expectations Maintain company property in a clean, safe, and professional condition. Ensure fuel islands, dispensers, and customer areas are consistently clean and operational. Complete assigned maintenance tasks promptly and efficiently. Demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and attention to detail. Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety standards. Support the company's commitment to customer service, safety, and operational excellence. Acknowledgment Due to the nature of convenience store operations, employees may be required to perform duties outside their primary job responsibilities. All employees are expected to assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work environment and to support store operations as directed by management.
