Part-Time with possibility to advance to Full-Time Position Summary The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for assisting with the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of hotel guest rooms, public areas, grounds, and equipment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for guests and team members while supporting the hotel's preventative maintenance program. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPreventative Maintenance Complete assigned preventative maintenance tasks according to established schedules. Inspect guest rooms, public areas, and hotel equipment to identify maintenance needs. Perform routine maintenance on HVAC systems, plumbing fixtures, electrical systems, lighting, doors, locks, and appliances. Maintain accurate records of preventative maintenance activities and inspections. Report potential issues before they become major repairs. Repair and Troubleshooting Respond promptly to guest and staff maintenance requests. Diagnose and repair common issues involving plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general building maintenance. Complete work orders within established timeframes. Ensure repairs are completed correctly and safely the first time whenever possible. Assist with emergency repairs as needed. Guest Room and Public Area Maintenance Maintain guest rooms to brand standards and ensure rooms are ready for occupancy. Repair defects in guest rooms, hallways, lobby areas, meeting spaces, and exterior grounds. Assist in returning out-of-order rooms to service as quickly as possible. Ensure public area equipment, including elevators, ice machines, fitness equipment, and pool equipment, is functioning properly. Safety and Compliance Follow all hotel safety policies and procedures. Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE). Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance shop and storage areas. Adhere to local building codes, fire safety requirements, and hotel brand standards. Properly handle and store chemicals, tools, and maintenance supplies. Cost and Resource Management Utilize parts, supplies, and materials responsibly to minimize waste. Assist with inventory control and organization of maintenance supplies. Report equipment requiring outside vendor service or replacement. Support hotel energy conservation initiatives. Teamwork and Guest Service Communicate effectively with housekeeping, front desk, and management regarding maintenance issues and project status. Interact professionally and courteously with guests. Assist team members when needed to support overall hotel operations. Attend required meetings and training sessions. QualificationsRequired High school diploma or equivalent. Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general maintenance practices. Ability to use hand and power tools safely. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including bending, climbing, kneeling, and standing for extended periods. Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays as needed. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
