Pocatello, Idaho, United States Job Description Experience:
Entry-Level Seasonal Information - Parks This is a seasonal position within the Parks & Recreation Department. Hours of operation are 7:00am - 3:30pm. All scheduled shifts will occur within that window of time. Placement on the Seasonal Pay Scale and associated steps relate directly to position, qualifications, and experience with the City of Pocatello. Employment with the City of Pocatello is contingent on passing a background check. Job Description Perform manual, skilled, and unskilled labor in the cleaning, maintenance and repair of grounds and facilities at and around City parks/facilities and on or adjacent to public rights-of-way. Performs general construction, maintenance, and repairs to a wide array of City buildings and infrastructure. This position requires applicants to be 16 years of age or older. The job requires working knowledge of construction and landscape techniques and general cleaning and janitorial methods. The job requires the ability to utilize hand and power tools in a safe manner. The job requires the ability to maintain a collaborative and cooperative working relationship with elected and appointed officials, other City employees, other organizations, and the general public. Individuals must be capable of operating vehicles safely and have an acceptable driving record. The work environment will include inside conditions, outdoor weather conditions, in wet and humid conditions, with areas of dust, odors, mist, gases or other airborne matter. Employees work in/at places where they are exposed to mechanical hazards. Employees will also drive a vehicle as part of this position. This position works days, evenings, and weekends as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs general park & maintenance facility restroom cleaning, including: opening and lock-up of facilities, dumping of trash cans, cleaning of toilets, urinals, mirrors and floors. Provides assistance as needed to other work crews, such as hand mowing. Reports assigned job completion status to supervisor on a daily basis. Responsible for driving a City vehicle to various restroom sites throughout the City, as assigned. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this position at any time.
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
Applicant must be 16 years of age or older; High school diploma or GED preferred; Two (2) to five (5) years of experience may be required; Specialized certifications, construction and/or supervisory experience may be required; Idaho Driver's license is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position may be considered.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, climb ladders, work at heights, and in confined spaces. The job requires hand/finger dexterity to handle materials, manipulate tools, and reach with hands and arms. The job requires operation of job-related equipment and driving a vehicle. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance. Sufficient visual acuity and hearing capacity to perform the essential functions and interact with the public is required.
