Click here for the full job description Love fixing things, leading projects, and keeping operations running smoothly? Want work that matters to the community? We're looking for a hands-on, solutions-focused Facilities Manager to help keep our libraries, vehicles, grounds, and public spaces safe, functional, welcoming, and ready to serve. This is not a "sit behind a desk all day" role. One moment you might be coordinating with a contractor or reviewing a preventative maintenance schedule, the next you could be troubleshooting a facility issue, helping with snow removal, or supporting a remodel or expansion project. If you thrive on variety, ownership, teamwork, and problem-solving — we'd love to meet you. What You'll Do Oversee maintenance and operations for library buildings, grounds, and district vehicles Coordinate vendors, contractors, inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance programs Help manage facility improvement, renovation, and construction-related projects Supervise custodial and maintenance staff Track maintenance schedules, repairs, inventories, and safety inspections Respond to operational issues with a calm, practical, solutions-oriented mindset Help ensure our facilities remain safe, clean, functional, and community-ready year-round What We're Looking For Strong organizational and project coordination skills Experience in facilities, maintenance, construction coordination, building operations, trades, or related work Ability to work independently while balancing multiple priorities Someone comfortable with rolling up their sleeves and jumping in where needed Strong communication and teamwork skills Valid driver's license and clean driving record Experience with HVAC systems, building systems, preventative maintenance scheduling, vendor management, build projects, or maintenance software is a plus — but practical experience, adaptability, and reliability matter just as much. Why This Role Matters Libraries are much more than books — they're community hubs, gathering spaces, learning centers, and safe public spaces. This position plays a critical role in keeping those spaces running smoothly for staff and the public every day. Schedule & Classification Full-time, exempt position Based in Sandpoint with district-wide responsibilities A Few Important Notes This role includes both indoor and outdoor work in all seasons and involves physical activity including lifting, climbing ladders, snow removal coordination, equipment handling, and general facility work. We Welcome Diverse Backgrounds Former military, veterans, and individuals with experience in public works, facilities operations, construction, logistics, mechanical systems, or trades are strongly encouraged to apply. Your leadership, adaptability, and mission-focused experience are highly valued here. Come help us maintain spaces that support community connection.
