Maintenance Assistant Supportive Living Facility Champaign, IL Job Details Full-time $16 - $18 an hour 6 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Vision insurance Qualifications Maintenance Full Job Description Maintenance Assistants work with the Director of Engineering in the upkeep and repair of property, plant and equipment. Duties include light construction, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, metalwork, and landscaping. Physical facilities include 150 apartments, commercial kitchen, laundry rooms, offices and resident common areas such as gymnasium, library and dining room. Maintenance assistants are also responsible for designated outdoor upkeep, including installation of seasonal decorations on the buildings, placement and upkeep of lawn furniture and emptying outdoor trash receptacles.
Principal Responsibilities:
Check Maintenance Log at least twice per shift to pick up assignments and requests. Repair and/or install various items, systems and/or components as may be required (e.g. broken windows, hand rails, lighting systems, HVAC units, electrical outlets, plumbing/sewer systems, etc.) to bring them up to safe working condition and/or proper appearance and operation. Assist other grounds and maintenance personnel and contractors for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities. Perform touch-up painting and wall patching as needed. Repaint entire rooms or apartments as directed. Repair or replace defective and damaged floor and ceiling surfaces/components as needed. Report serious causes such as leaks or foundation problems to supervisor. Check water temperatures on variable schedule and log in designated record book. Report water temperature problems to supervisor and administrator and assist with corrective measures. Clean and perform minor repairs of gutters, drains and scuppers for the purpose of ensuring proper operation and adequate drainage. Install component parts to maintain office equipment in a safe operating condition. Maintain tools and other maintenance equipment in organized, clean and safe operating condition. Obtain supplies as requested from central storeroom and maintain inventory logs. Respond to and resolve emergency situations (e.g. flooding, shorting electrical lines), summoning 911 ore other assistance as needed. Perform grounds related functions as may be required for the purpose of preserving grounds in a healthy, attractive and safe condition
Pay:
$16.00 - $18.00 per hour
