Position Summary:
This is a full-time position. Under direct supervision of the GM2, the GM1 assists in executing a year-round comprehensive maintenance plan for a variety of indoor and outdoor recreation facilities and programs.
Essential Functions:
Execute maintenance procedures for SHRC recreational facilities and programs. Prepare program facilities and spaces for activities including indoor and outdoor athletics, special events, and various other program content. Knowledge or ability to learn basic maintenance skills; athletic fields, landscaping, equipment and vehicle operation, equipment maintenance and repairs, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, etc. Adhere to safety policies and procedures for proper operation of equipment. Assists with training PT/Seasonal staff for proper safety and maintenance procedures. Assists with supervision of PT/Seasonal staff members. Attend training, continuing education, or other professional development opportunities as assigned by supervisor. Other duties as assigned by GM2.
Education, Certification, and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred graduation/completion from post-secondary training, coursework, or certification related to facility maintenance. Preferred relevant certification. Preferred experience working for a Municipal Parks & Recreation organization or equivalent, direct Park maintenance experience.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Effective communication in written and verbal format. Work independently and as part of a Team, collaboration with peers. Follow instructions and receive constructive critical feedback. Prioritization of tasks or responsibilities to meet timelines. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, web-based recreation management software, Adobe, and other software applications. Build strong relationships with co-workers and members of the Spring Hill community. Motivated, trainable, adaptable, effective time and schedule management.
Special Requirements:
Minimum age 18 years old. Must be able to work a varied schedule which could include weekends, evenings, and/or holidays. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to operate, finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently stoop, kneel, crouch or bend. Manual labor includes lifting and carrying heavy objects, as heavy as 50 lbs.
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in an indoor and outdoor environment with exposure to all types of weather conditions is expected. Occasional exposure to machinery and excessive noise. Exposure to program materials and equipment such as but not limited to sports equipment, maintenance equipment, cooking and art supplies, etc.
