Job Description
This is work in the maintenance and replacement of water mains, hydrants, valves, and service lines. These employees perform semiskilled maintenance tasks or assist skilled workers in the performance of maintenance work. Employees also perform skilled, safe operation of trucks and other powered equipment, including any attached mechanical equipment. The primary emphasis of the job is on the performance of a variety of tasks which require general mechanical ability rather than a high degree of skill in any particular trade. Work is supervised and inspected while in process and upon completion by a supervisor. This position will require working outdoors in inclement weather including but not limited to, rain, snow, ice, sleet, heat, and humidity and/or emergency response operations that would include operating equipment and vehicles on overnight shifts, weekends and in low-light and low visibility conditions, or other adverse weather conditions.
