A Maintenance Helper or Assistant assists maintenance mechanics. Repairs and maintains equipment and machines, such as cars or heating systems. May assemble or adjust machines as directed by a head mechanic.
The Maintainer I is responsible for performing various manual tasks including custodial, grounds keeping, and snow removal, as well as other general maintenance duties required for the maintenance of buildings and grounds of an educational institution. The shift for this position is Tuesday through Saturday, 6:00am - 2:30pm.
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to lift and carry heavy objects and climb ladders. Mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity. Current Massachusetts Driver's License. Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
Experience in building maintenance and upkeep. COMPENSATION
: Full-time, benefited AFSCME Unit Position - Job Grade 10 - Step 5; weekly salary of $951.15 plus shift differential (Saturday) of $.75 per hour worked. Position includes comprehensive employee benefits program including participation in Massachusetts State Employees' Retirement System. Candidates may qualify for placement above entry-level salary if currently employed in the State system.
