The ideal candidate is a skilled handy person/tradesperson, capable of completing projects including light electrical work, plumbing, painting, and carpentry, waxing and stripping of floors. This is a full-time position, reporting to the Maintenance Director. The Community Group (TCG) is a private, nonprofit organization creating opportunities through education since 1970. TCG manages a range of programs, including a network of early childhood and out-of-school time programs, a network of charter and district public schools, consulting and training programs, and a child care resource and referral program, Child Care Circuit. Responsibilities include (but not limited to): Responsible for maintaining a safe environment including: Moving heavy furniture as needed as well as repairs; Checking that all exit lights are lit as well as emergency backup lights; The outdoor lights are in good working order; Inspecting and the Maintenance of all playgrounds and equipment; Removal of snow on walkways and salting steps and walkways; Assisting fire department when they are in building doing inspections. Responsible for heating and plumbing issues and notifying the maintenance director that a service call is needed; Responsible for cleanliness of common areas, cafeteria, bathrooms daily and dusting baseboards; Responsible for outdoor appearance including landscaping, mowing of lawns and building repairs; Responsible for daily bathroom maintenance including cleanliness, paper supplies, trash removal and stall repairs as needed; Occasional evening and weekends as needed for events, graduations and meetings; Being available to the alarm company by responding to alarm calls; Assist with deliveries and trash removal; Keeping an inventory of cleaning supplies and submitting what's needed to purchasing dept., Any additional duties assigned by supervisor. Uphold a passionate belief in The Community Group's mission, values, and educational model; Completed CORI, SORI and fingerprint scan in accordance with regulations set forth by the Department of Early Education and Care. Ability to meet the physical demands of the job including but not limited to lifting, cleaning, snow removal, lawn care, assisting with deliveries and trash removal; Must be reliable, organized; and Must communicate with Maintenance Director and with team a big plus. Experience working with children a plus.
