I. GENERAL NATURE OF POSITION.
The Maintenance Attendant is responsible for ensuring the day-to-day functioning of the facility and associated off-site properties. This includes cleaning and general maintenance of the Little Bear East Arena, Fitness Center, and Little Bear East Sports Park, as well as maintaining off-site parks. During the summer season, the Maintenance Attendant will also assist with field preparation for various Recreation Programs, as directed by the Recreation Director or Maintenance Supervisor. Work hours will primarily consist of weekdays, but weekend shifts may also be required year-round, with a higher frequency of weekend shifts during the winter to accommodate scheduled hockey tournaments and other events. This position reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor.
II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.
A. PRIMARY DUTIES 1.
Oversee all Recreation Department facilities, equipment, grounds maintenance and improvement; including snow removal and grass cutting. 2. Document issues, report to the Maintenance Supervisor and Recreation Director - Facility Manager. 3. Maintains outdoor facilities for Recreation and indoor facilities as needed. 4. Assist with game day operations for all events and recreation programs. 5. Assist with set-up and tear-down needs, and cleaning, in addition to any electronic set-up, for all facility events. 6. Assist as needed with after-business hours situations and respond effectively to emergency situations, to include weekends.
B. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 1.
Ability to work rapidly, prioritize multiple assignments, and meet specific deadlines; 2. Working knowledge of computer programs required for recordkeeping and communication with online ordering systems. 3. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. 4. Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently. 5. Ability to operate ice resurfacing equipment or willing to learn. 6. Ability to use a skate sharpener or willing to learn. 7. Ability to work in a collaborative team environment as well as to lead individuals; 8. Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner of cooperation and rapport. 9. Ability to operate lawn care equipment or willingness to learn.

The ability to maintain confidentiality is essential.
III. DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS.
a. Education. Possession of a high school diploma or G.E.D. is required. b. Experience. Desired experience in maintenance, repairs, and equipment handling.
IV. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS. 1. U. S.
citizen. 2. Eighteen (18) years of age or older at the date of job. 3. Michigan Driver's License, valid without record of suspension or revocation in any state - possess, or ability to obtain by date of hire. 4.
