NOTE:
Brooklyn Park Local 49 members will be given priority placement in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement at five (5) days Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform street maintenance repair to include crack sealing, patching, sweeping. Perform concrete curb, sidewalk and pedestrian ramp replacement to meet ADA compliance. Perform snow and ice control to include street, cul-de-sac, and sidewalk & trail plowing. Ice control as warranted/necessary on streets. Perform sign repair to include inspections, GIS data collection, replacement and striping/marking. Perform MS4 inspections of storm sewer system to meet Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Requirements. Perform storm sewer system repair/maintenance of catch basins, storm water utility holes, storm pipes, storm water ponds, and creeks including cleaning, rebuilding, unclogging de-icing and dredging. Perform streetlight and traffic signal repair and pole painting. Perform tree trimming along storm sewer and sidewalk right of way. Locate and mark underground utilities; keep records, as necessary. Perform road maintenance operations in accordance with the pavement rating management plan. Perform inspections involving milling, paving and concrete replacement projects. Responsible for proper placement of traffic control devices in accordance with MUTC guidelines while working in roadways. Performs emergency hazardous materials response procedures. Provides assistance with vehicle and equipment maintenance. Provides assistance in emergency or essential operations to all divisions including parks, streets and utility maintenance divisions. Assist other departments in their service delivery, repairs and maintenance. Receives and responds to requests and work orders. Follows up on complaints and other matters of public interest related to the City infrastructure, service, and maintenance. Deals courteously, effectively and tactfully with the public. Performs standby duties on scheduled rotation. Performs other duties, as assigned. Minimum and Desired Qualifications Education 18 years of age or older Experience One (1) year of experience in equipment operation and general equipment maintenance for a maintenance operation Licenses/Certifications Valid Class "D" driver's license at time of hire Class "B" required within 1 year of hire Class "A" required within 2 years of hire Equivalency An equivalent combination of education and experience closely related to the duties of the position MAY be considered Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to comprehend and execute written and oral instructions Ability to be cross trained in the divisions: Park Maintenance, Street Maintenance, and Utility Maintenance Ability to perform maintenance and repair tasks in one or more of the following divisions: Park Maintenance, Street Maintenance, and Utility Maintenance Ability to meet physical demands of the job, including but not limited to lifting, bending, climbing, reaching overhead, pushing and pulling Ability to perform job responsibilities in climatic extremes common to Minnesota Proven ability and demonstrated commitment to an inclusive workplace related to racial equity, diversity and inclusion Ability to provide a level of customer service that meets or exceeds customer expectation and satisfaction Embrace and engage in cultural shift toward Continuous Improvement Desired Qualifications Valid class "B" or higher driver's license Two (2)+ years of experience in equipment operation Two (2)+ years of experience in street maintenance Two (2)+ years of experience working in a municipal setting Previous experience snow plowing streets, sidewalks, and cul-de-sacs Previous experience working with people from various cultural, socioeconomic, racial and ethnic backgrounds Fluency in Spanish, Hmong, Russian, Somali, Lao or Vietnamese language(s) Work Conditions The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully and safely perform the essential duties of this job Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to fully and safely perform the essential duties Core business hours are set by departments based on operational needs. Alternative schedules can be arranged, but must comply with the City's Alternative Work Arrangement policy Full-time, non-exempt, union position; standard work hours are 6:00 a.m.- 2:30 p.m. Monday-Friday from November through April; and four (4) ten
- (10) hour days from May through October with the possibility of working weekends, holidays, etc.

$34.00 per hour, plus full-time Local 49 labor agreement benefit package Pay Progression Based on the Local 49 contract with the City of Brooklyn Park, with satisfactory performance an employee would receive an increase after 6 months to be at step 2, followed by another increase after one year to be at step 3. Full step progression is 7 steps over 4.5 years total. The current salary range is $34.00- 42.
