Job Description

Property & Guest Caretaker

JOB PURPOSE

Convey the mission of the Art Colony through caring for the Art Colony properties and guests staying in our facilities. The Caretaker will oversee the maintenance and care for the guest lodging facilities, general visitor spaces, and grounds. The position will also be available for guest inquiries while staying on site.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

General Maintenance & Cleaning

  • Perform minor repairs like changing light bulbs, fixing leaky faucets, patching drywall, and servicing basic plumbing.
  • Clean the guest lodging areas at Ella's Inn and Studio 120 and common space and bathrooms in all Art Colony facilities
  • Prep units for new guest arrivals. Groundskeeping
  • Mow lawns, maintain plants and garden, and handle seasonal tasks like snow and ice removal at Ella's Inn and Founders Hall / Studio 120. Security and Inspections
  • Monitor alarm systems, check locks and lockboxes, and conduct safety-check walk-throughs. Inventory & Supply Management
  • Ensure household essentials and cleaning supplies are well stocked.
  • Coordinate with Administrative Coordinator to place necessary orders.
QUALIFICATIONS

General Skills

  • Basic handiwork skills, problem-solving abilities, communication, and strong independent work habits. Physical Fitness
  • Ability to lift heavy items (up to 50 pounds), do the physical work of cleaning and repair, and work outdoors in various weather conditions. Communication & Problem Solving
  • Reliable contact for emergency needs and other guest inquiries.
  • Able to communicate interpersonally and among staff and contractors as needed.
  • Addressing unexpected issues, from weather damage to urgent Maintenance Skills
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and general small-scale repairs. Discretion & Professionalism
  • Handling guest stays and concerns with confidentiality and respect. Compensation and Benefits
  • Salary Range commensurate with experience: $22,000 - $24,000 annually equivalent to approximately 20 - 24 hours of work per week.
  • Housing provided $400/month, which includes utilities.
  • Benefits include paid time off, SEP-IRA, discounts on classes, and gallery store merchandise.
