POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for assisting with all activities related to the daily maintenance and repair of the City's Water Wells and related water infrastructure.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for working directly with other crew members and crew leaders.
- Willing to learn how to operate all departmental equipment safely and effectively.
- Assists with water and sewer repairs as assigned.
- Maintain work truck cleanliness, supplies, and tools.
- Communicate and coordinate regularly with appropriate staff to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of departmental activities.
- Required to adhere to mandated safety precautions and policies.
- Required to respond to emergency call-outs and to work during all weather conditions when requested.
- Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and City government goals.
Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of both.
EXPERIENCE
- Ability to read and interpret written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships
- Must possess a valid Mississippi driver's license with five (5) years of a driver's record that shall reflect no charges that would adversely affect insurability under the city carrier's policy.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Controlling operations of equipment and the water/sewer infrastructure system.
- Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure a machine works properly.
- Familiarity with operating radio communication equipment and systems.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those required to perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, taste or smell, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and lift/move objects up to 100 pounds. The employee will be frequently required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift/move objects up to 100 pounds. The employee is regularly required to speak, listen, see, and lift/move objects up to 100 pounds. The use of a corrective lens to aid the employee is acceptable. This position requires you to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions with exposure to biological hazards.
