Schedule:
Weekdays with rotating on-call/weekends as needed (discussed during interview) About the role Sylva Valley Health & Rehab is hiring a Maintenance Assistant to help keep our building safe, clean, and running smoothly for residents and staff. This is a hands-on role for someone who is dependable, takes pride in their work, and can handle a variety of repairs and preventative maintenance tasks. What we offer Competitive pay (based on experience) Steady work and supportive team environment Vacation time + Sick time (per eligibility) Training and opportunities to learn additional facility systems Key responsibilities Assist with preventative maintenance and routine building rounds Perform basic repairs (drywall, painting, flooring, doors/locks, fixtures, minor plumbing) Help with simple electrical tasks (changing ballasts/bulbs, outlets/switch plates—within scope) Support HVAC upkeep (filters, basic troubleshooting; escalate major issues) Respond to work orders promptly and communicate status updates Maintain grounds as needed (trash removal, basic landscaping support) Move furniture/equipment and help set up rooms/areas as needed Follow safety standards (PPE, ladders, lockout/tagout as applicable) and infection control Support emergency preparedness tasks and participate in on-call rotation (if required) What we're looking for Prior maintenance, facilities, construction, or handyman experience preferred Ability to use hand/power tools safely Reliable attendance and strong work ethic Good communication and customer-service mindset (you'll work around residents) Ability to lift/move items and work on your feet Preferred (nice to have) Experience in healthcare, SNF, or regulated environments Basic knowledge of life safety expectations (fire doors, exits, alarms—training provided) Apply Apply online: tinyurl.com/sylvavalley #SylvaIndeed
