Job Description
Perform a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of the City cemetery. Display honest, trustworthy, and ethical behavior when dealing with internal and external customers. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Regular attendance that is punctual and dependable is required. Operate maintenance equipment such as trucks, tractors, mowers, backhoe and loaders for a variety of maintenance operations in the assigned area of responsibility; assist in snow removal activities. Utilize a variety of hand and power tools; assist in routine maintenance of such equipment. Perform routine preventive maintenance on tools and equipment as assigned. Utilize proper safety precautions in all work performed. Perform maintenance duties of cemetery buildings. Perform basic plumbing duties on the cemetery water systems. Perform basic carpentry work and painting for building and maintaining cemetery facilities and equipment. Open and close graves as necessary; assist in funeral preparations; assist public in locating graves. Perform a variety of duties in the installation, maintenance and repair of cemetery's irrigation systems. Water, mow, weed, trim, sod, renovate and fertilize lawns; prune trees and shrubs; plant trees, flowers and shrubs; trim trees. May assist in other sections of the Department as necessary. Perform related duties as assigned.
