General Labor Technician Job Description This role involves performing a variety of hands-on tasks to maintain, clean, and prepare storage units and related structures. You will support light construction and maintenance activities using hand and power tools while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality. Responsibilities Paint storage units, ensuring clean, even coverage and a professional finish. Clean storage units thoroughly and prepare surfaces for painting, including removing debris, dust, and old paint as needed. Power wash storage units and surrounding areas to remove dirt, grime, and other surface contaminants. Use hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete light construction, maintenance, and repair tasks. Follow detailed instructions and work plans to complete assigned tasks accurately and on schedule. Inspect work areas and equipment before and after tasks to ensure cleanliness, safety, and readiness for use. Handle general labor duties such as lifting, moving, and positioning materials and equipment as required. Support basic mechanical, welding, or electrical tasks under guidance, when needed, to assist broader maintenance activities. Maintain a neat and organized work area and properly store tools and materials after use. Adhere to all safety procedures and report any hazards, issues, or equipment concerns promptly. Essential Skills Proven general labor experience in a hands-on, physical work environment. Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools, equipment, and basic maintenance tasks. Experience with light construction work, including basic repairs and surface preparation. Proficiency using hand tools such as brushes, scrapers, wrenches, and similar equipment. Ability to safely operate power tools and equipment, including power washers. Painting experience, including preparing surfaces and applying paint evenly and neatly. Strong attention to detail to ensure high-quality finishes and thorough cleaning. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately and consistently. Reliability, strong work ethic, and the ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision. Physical ability to perform manual labor, including standing, lifting, bending, and working in various conditions. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in construction, facilities maintenance, or a similar trade environment. Experience with cleaning and surface preparation for painting or coating applications. Familiarity with basic welding tasks or willingness to support welding work under supervision. Exposure to basic electrical work or comfort working around electrical systems under proper guidance. Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools safely and efficiently. Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn new tools and techniques. Good communication skills to coordinate tasks and clarify instructions when needed. Why Work Here? You should be prepared for a practical, industrial-style setting where appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment are required to ensure safety and comfort throughout the shift. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Bohemia, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $27.00/hr.
