Job Description

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is hiring a Park and Recreation Aide for Frontier Town Campground in North Hudson, NY. Candidates must be at least 16 years of age. Preference may be given to candidates 18 years of age with a valid driver's license. Job Requirements/Duties ð Must have dependable transportation and be able to work assigned shifts. Must be punctual, reporting for work on time. Shift work may be required when assigned to booth areas or shower building cleaning. ð Should expect to work all weekends and holidays during period of employment. ð Must be able, where applicable, to do manual work in park such as picking up litter, raking, pushing lawnmowers, digging ditches, climbing roofs to sweep pine needles and leaves, and cleaning comfort stations, rest rooms and buildings. Extra physical work may be required such as operating a chainsaw, running a chipper, or aiding in removing brush and or firewood. Lugging canoes and rowboats may be required. Candidate must be willing and able to clean toilets most of the time while employed. Must be able to communicate with others and accept direction. All tasks are to be conducted in a safe manner, with any injuries/illnesses reported immediately to supervisor. ð Must be well groomed, wear appropriate attire, including work shoes, no sneakers. Issued clothing must be kept clean and worn regularly. ð Must be even tempered and capable of communicating with the public. Provides patrons with information regarding park facilities and use. Handles complaints or inquiries from park patrons regarding the quality of their experience, the cleanliness of facilities, noise from other facility users, and other related customer service issues. ð Must be able and willing to perform duties in the Campground Recycle Center, i.e. process refuse, deposit containers and recyclables in accordance with state, county and town laws. Must accept instruction in operating policies and abide by them. ð : Must be able to handle and account for money and complete necessary Revenue Reports. Must be capable of operating a personal computer. Must be even tempered and capable of communicating with the public and others. Must be able to accept direction readily and perform shift work.
