Our work is hands-on, heart-driven, and deeply impactful — and the people who keep our facilities safe, clean, and functioning are central to that mission. We're looking for a Maintenance Assistant who takes pride in their craft and finds meaning in supporting people during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. What You'll Do Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you'll help ensure our facility is safe, welcoming, and fully operational for the families we serve. No two days look exactly the same — you'll handle a mix of planned maintenance tasks and respond to day-to-day needs as they arise.
Your responsibilities will include:
General repairs & upkeep — Patching drywall, painting walls and trim, fixing doors, replacing hardware, and handling minor fixture repairs throughout the building. Work that keeps our space looking and functioning its best, without needing to call in a specialist. Equipment & appliance maintenance — Regularly inspecting, troubleshooting, and maintaining facility equipment and small appliances (vacuums, washers, dryers, etc.) to keep everything running smoothly for residents and staff. Exterior property care — Keeping the outside of our facility safe and presentable year-round, including snow and ice removal in winter, light landscaping, and general tidiness of outdoor areas. Facility cleanliness & upkeep — Assisting with cleaning tasks and supporting the overall maintenance of shared spaces, resident areas, and common areas. Client transportation — Driving the agency van to transport clients to and from medical appointments, social service offices, and other destinations as needed. Furniture & setup assistance — Helping move furniture and reconfigure spaces to support programming, room transitions, or incoming families. Additional duties — Pitching in wherever needed as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
What You Bring Required:
Experience — 1-2 of experience in Facilities Maintenance High school diploma, GED, or equivalent — we value practical experience as much as formal education Valid driver's license and current vehicle insurance — you'll be transporting clients regularly, so a clean driving record is important Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform tasks that include climbing ladders, bending, kneeling, stooping, crawling, and working outdoors in all weather conditions Basic computer skills — comfortable checking email, looking up product information, and communicating digitally with the team

- Prior experience in facilities maintenance, janitorial services, or a skilled trade
- Familiarity with or lived experience alongside the population we serve (individuals and families experiencing housing instability)
