Job Description
The Lorain County Sheriff's Office has entry level, full time openings in our Maintenance Department. We are looking for hard-working, motivated individuals to join our team. The individuals in these roles will be tasked with routine and as-needed maintenance of the Sheriff's facility. This includes, but is not limited to: ensuring and maintaining facility sanitation and presentation standards, attending to upkeep of electrical system, ensuring plumbing efficiency, as well as routine and as-needed plowing, mowing and repairing of facility grounds. Work will be performed with a variety of machinery, including, but not limited to; snow plow, tractor, hand tools, power tools, etc. These roles require the physical agility to climb and descend ladders, scaffolding and other obstructed areas safely, the ability to be in various natural elements and have the understanding that there may be exposure to fumes, odors, dust, mists and gases. These positions do require shift work (days and afternoons) and working holidays and weekends. Successful applicants must be 19 years of age, have obtained a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, have a valid Ohio driver's license, have general knowledge of and interest in the building trades (e.g. masonry, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, etc.) and be willing to receive and participate in ongoing on-the-job training. Selected applicants will be subject to background investigation, psychological exam, drug test and truth verification exam before being considered for hire. The starting wage for Maintenance Worker 2 is $23.10 per hour and progresses thru a three year step system topping out at $25.71 per hour.
