$14.00 per hour, non-exempt Position Available:
Immediately, contingent upon pre-employment screening, background check, and Village Council approval. The Village of Stockport is seeking a dedicated and dependable Maintenance Worker to assist with the upkeep and maintenance of Village facilities, parks, streets, cemetery grounds, and utility operations. This position offers an opportunity to serve the community while performing a variety of outdoor and indoor maintenance tasks. Standard business hours are 7am-4pm, with some evenings, weekends, and during emergencies. This is a full-time position, with eligibility for overtime. Benefits include Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS), sick, vacation, and personal leave, along with eleven paid holidays. Valid driver's license required. Position Summary Under general supervision, the Maintenance Worker performs maintenance and general labor duties within the Village's Water and Sewer Plant, Parks and Recreation Division, Street Division, and Cemetery Division. The successful candidate will help ensure Village properties remain safe, attractive, orderly, and well-maintained. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform manual labor and grounds maintenance in Village parks, cemetery grounds, streets, and vacant lots. Complete outdoor and indoor maintenance tasks including sweeping, raking, trash collection, and roadside cleanup. Shovel and spread mulch, gravel, soil, and other materials. Paint buildings, park structures, and equipment. Mow, edge, and trim lawns; prune trees and shrubs. Dig burial plots, trenches, and ditches as needed. Operate and maintain mowers, trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, vacuums, and other small power equipment. Assist with vehicle and equipment maintenance by transporting materials, parts, supplies, and equipment. Read water meters. Perform additional duties as assigned. Required Skills and Abilities Ability to safely operate and maintain a variety of maintenance equipment and tools. Ability to perform strenuous physical labor in a variety of weather conditions. Ability to read, understand, and follow safety procedures and regulations. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, and the public. Ability to use landscaping equipment, fuels, and cleaning products safely and effectively. Strong customer service skills and a professional attitude when interacting with residents. Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age. Must possess a valid driver's license. Ability to work indoors and outdoors for extended periods under varying weather conditions. Knowledge of routine manual labor methods and maintenance practices preferred. Must be able to provide all documentation required by state and federal law for employment. Must successfully pass a pre-employment physical exam, background check, drug screening and random drug testing.
