NoPURPOSE OF POSITION
: To gain experience and develop proficiency in a wide variety of Public Works tasks in the construction, maintenance and repair of the City's Public Works facilities and systems including Parks, Collections, Streets, Water Distribution and Small Waterline Construction. Operate light public works equipment.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties listed below include, but are not limited to, the various types of work that may be performed by individuals in this classification. Any of the following duties may be performed. All employees are expected to maintain job proficiency by completing relevant position specific training and pursuing available and approved professional development opportunities; maintain work area in a clean and orderly manner; maintain regular job attendance and adherence to working hours; follow all City policies; follow all established safety rules and procedures. Perform landscaping duties which include, but are not limited to watering, weeding, pruning of plants and trees, mowing, and edging. Clean and maintain public restrooms and park facilities, picking up litter and leaves. Build and maintain picnic tables and benches. Operate light public works equipment and a variety of hand and power tools. Clean equipment used in the maintenance of systems. Perform routine building maintenance tasks on City-owned buildings such as painting and cleaning. Assist with pavement patching, crack sealing, concrete forming/finishing, sanding, snow removal, traffic control marking, traffic flagging, sign and signal maintenance, vegetation control. Assist in the installation, repair, and replacement of various street and regulatory signals/signs and barricades, posts, etc. Assist in performing various building and grounds maintenance tasks, including minor carpentry and plumbing duties. Assist other personnel within the department as workload and staffing levels dictate. Maintain regular job attendance and adherence to working hours. May be required to operate a vehicle if qualified and able to do so safely and legally.MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience:
Possession of, or in the process of obtaining, High school diploma or GED and any satisfactory combination of experience and training, which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential job duties.Licenses & Certificates:
Possession of valid Oregon Driver License with acceptable driving record is required.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Possession of Commercial Driver License with hazmat endorsement is desirable. Work Zone Traffic Control certificate is desirable. Immediately Supervised Public Pesticide Trainee License at time of hire is desirable. Possession of current CPR/First Aid card is desirable.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
