Role:
Marsee Baking is seeking a Facilities Assistant 30-40 hours per week to support our Facilities Manager in keeping our production facility safe, compliant, and running smoothly. This is a hands-on role — someone equally comfortable doing physical maintenance and build-out work, maintaining our delivery trucks, and managing documentation, cleaning logs, and food safety compliance processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Facilities, Equipment & Fleet Maintenance Handson maintenance of the building, bakery production equipment, and company trucks/vehicles — including basic repairs, oil changes, and routine truck upkeep Respond to facility and equipment issues as they arise; help triage and prioritize repairs Perform routine and preventive maintenance directly (mechanical, electrical, plumbing basics, pneumatic systems) Maintain a clean working environment and keep tools, parts, and equipment organized at all times Remove equipment guards, doors, and belts and perform deep cleaning of equipment involving removal of dried dough, filling materials, and other food products Handle daytoday upkeep — weekly equipment checks, light bulb/filter replacement, general building tidiness Support small buildout and installation projects (e.g., pneumatic air lines, equipment installs, facility modifications) Coordinate with outside vendors (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, pest control, equipment technicians) on scheduling, scope, and quality of work Track equipment and truck maintenance schedules and logs Weekly pest control trap inspections Food Safety, Sanitation & Compliance Follow established sanitation and safety protocols; help keep postcleaning logs and the master sanitation schedule up to date Cleaning and sanitation of hard to reach areas including ceiling vents, tops of ovens, and cooler and freezer rooftops Weekly soap, quat, and chlorine dispenser chemical testing and verification Assist with pathogen environmental swabbing (e.g., ATP/Listeria monitoring) as directed Support the Facilities Manager during AIB audit prep and daytoday GMP/food safety compliance tasks as needed General Act as a proactive second set of hands for the Facilities Manager, taking ownership of projects and areas as skills grow Help train production staff on proper cleaning, maintenancereporting, and safety procedures; maintain a safe working environment
Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in facilities maintenance, industrial/food manufacturing maintenance, or a related handson technical role Comfortable performing physical/mechanical work personally, including basic vehicle maintenance Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or pneumatic systems Experience coordinating with outside contractors/vendors Selfdirected; able to prioritize across competing demands and communicate clearly with vendors and staff Willingness to learn basic food safety and sanitation practices; no
HACCP/AIB
