Job Description
As the Facilities Management Generalist, you will need to think creatively and be comfortable serving in a supportive role for the department to boost daily operations. You will be an active member of the Facilities Management team and will work closely with the Director of Facilities Management to aid the departments mailroom, warehouse, grounds, custodial, and general labor teams through detailed communication on each request received. You will thrive in this role if you like combining your clerical background and warehouse experience all while innovating workflows to improve accuracy and speed when completing interdepartmental requests. To be successful in this role, you must possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills along with the ability to skillfully pivot between tasks. Your schedule will be 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday. You may have to flex your schedule from time to time based on the needs of the business to be a true Facilities Management Generalist. When our team shows up for work, they are energized and motivated to succeed - all while being the most crucial piece to keeping the ESU operations humming. What Will I Do At ESU? (AKA Essential Duties) Mailroom & Warehouse Receive, sort, deliver, and collect all types of campus mail, packages, and inter-departmental shipments. Perform primary and secondary sorting and manage the delivery of supplies and equipment to various campus buildings. Operate postal equipment such as a postal meter machine, postal scales, a microcomputer, and an adding machine. Prepare bulk mail and track inter-campus mailings for departmental billing records. Process storeroom shipments via scanners, maintain inventory records, and manage stock organization. Fulfill delivery orders by accurately withdrawing goods from the warehouse. Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, package shipments, and coordinate with transportation companies. Drive state vehicles to deliver mail and storeroom supplies across campus and transport outgoing mail to the USPS. Groundskeeping & Landscaping Perform professional mowing, seeding, fertilizing, pruning, mulching, and leaf pick up. Maintain campus lawns, flowerbeds, and athletic fields. Perform snow removal using shovels, blowers, and tractors. General Labor & Event Support Relocate furniture and equipment between offices, classrooms, and dormitories. Participate in setting up tables, chairs, stages, canopies, or any other items for special events both indoors and outdoors. Manage bulk waste and large-scale recycling collection. Custodial Care Clean and disinfect labatories; restock essential supplies. Perform detailed cleaning of fixtures, windows, blinds, and interior walls. Maintain whiteboards/blackboards in academic areas and report facility repair needs. Vacuum, spot clean, and shampoo carpet. Mop, scrub, wax, and polish floors. Clean around the outside areas of assigned buildings. What We're Looking For (AKA Qualifications) High school diploma or equivalent. A Valid Driver's License. Experience with driving a manual transmission is required. Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in all seasonal weather variations. Requires exposure to physical conditions such as daily motion activity, frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling, and extensive hand coordination movement. Must be able to frequently lift 50+ lbs. Requires exposure to noise, dust, and fumes from fertilizers, pesticides, or cleaning chemicals (safety gear provided when needed). Proficiency with basic computer systems for inventory and mail tracking; ability to operate heavy machinery (forklift certification preferred). Able to quickly pivot between work tasks when unplanned events occur that need immediate attention. Able to read, write, and comprehend English; able to follow verbal instructions. Experience with Word, Excel, Teams required.
