Job Description
Position Summary:
The Maintenance Worker 1 performs a variety of maintenance and engineering duties for the Engineering Department. Assigned duties are implemented in a manner appropriate to the age‐specific needs of the individual served. The Maintenance Worker 1 works closely with the Facilities Manager who may provide several daily work assignments and oversight of tasks.
Education, License & Cert:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
Three (3) years of trade school or three (3) years comparable related experience required.
Essential Functions:
1. Constructs, finishes, installs, maintains, and repairs equipment, systems and facilities related to any craft or combination of same, using power and hand tools and other necessary equipment. 2. Performs a variety of other semi‐skilled and skilled work in various crafts such as plumbing, electrical work, machinist work, etc. 3. Cleans, lubricates, services, repairs, installs, and diagnoses malfunctions of HVAC equipment, laundry and dietary equipment ,sprinkler and standpipe systems, ice makers and refrigeration equipment, electrical system and other plant and specialty equipment such as boilers and cooling towers and heat pumps. 4. Operates cooling towers and heat pumps, pumps, air handling units, water softeners, compressors, medical gas system, alarms, and emergency generators to insure the comfort and safety of residents, staff, and visitors. 5. Identifies system failure and troubleshoots plant equipment in detail to restore to operating or contain problem. To include fire alarm, security, and communication systems. 6. Perform water treatment tests. 7. Maintains the systems, equipment, and facilities, in a clean safe operating condition in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations and department policy. 8. Maintains logs, performs rounds, complete p.m. work orders, tests, and inspections. Makes recommendations for modification or improvement of preventive maintenance systems. 9. Maintains shops, mechanical spaces, resident areas, etc in a clean safe manner. 10. Responds to emergency problems in the facility and makes emergency repairs as needed.
Other Duties:
