We seek a detail-oriented, hardworking, and committed Lead Maintenance Worker to ensure we have the safe, clean, and appropriate school environment needed to accelerate learning for all our students. Day Responsibilities:
As directed by the Director of Operations, the Lead Maintenance Worker is responsible for coaching, supporting, and organizing the maintenance team to ensure all aspects of the facilities and equipment of the school are kept in optimal condition. The lead maintenance worker will also perform the necessary tasks to ensure our school is in good repair at all times. This role includes, but is not limited to:
  • Regularly Inspecting Facilities, Equipment and Grounds to Ensure Compliance.
This role ensures our school facilities, equipment and grounds are compliant with fire and health regulations through regularly scheduled inspections. When there are areas in disrepair, this role either personally repairs those items or, under direction of the Director of Operations, may delegate these repairs to others and ensure they happen.
  • Performing Repairs and Routine Maintenance. This role is personally responsible for a wide range of repairs and routine maintenance of our school facilities and equipment including but not limited to carpentry, painting, plumbing, grounds maintenance and sanitation/hazard response.
  • Supporting the Removal of Waste or Other Hazardous Materials. As delegated by the Director of Operations, this role works with assigned vendors to ensure removal of waste or other hazardous materials.
  • Day to Day Facilities Support.
This role provides daily support on routine facilities requests like moving furniture and equipment, installing signage, setting up for and breaking down after events and opening and closing the school building.
Physical Working Conditions of Position:
  • Ability to lift at least 50lbs up to 100lbs and climb a ladder.
  • Must be able to frequently walk, stand for extended periods of time, and lift equipment weighing up to about 100 pounds may be required.
  • The work environment also exposes the team member to potentially hazardous substances, such as chemicals in cleaning supplies.
The Lead Maintenance Worker is subject to (will be expected to work) inside and outside environmental conditions, noise, and hazards, including all types of weather, potentially extreme heat and cold at times.
Minimum Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, all candidates must be U.S. citizens or residents or have work visas. The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of experience working in a related position, in addition, they must also demonstrate:
  • Professionalism and dependability: They deliver high-quality, thorough, detail-oriented work on time, every time or communicate proactively if they miss a commitment or need support to meet their goal. They do what they promise, when they promise it to a high level of quality and effectiveness.
  • Ownership and Responsibility. They feel personal responsibility for our school's facilities, and where appropriate, are self-directed and highly motivated to make sure that all facilities and equipment are working properly. They take initiative when their actions will improve the experience of teachers, staff, families, or students.
  • Strong problem-solving skills. They are great at solving problems and troubleshooting issues until they are solved. When a challenge is tough, they keep working at it until they find a solution.
Teamwork:
They build and keep the trust of their team by being respectful, reliable, and easy to work with. They assume the best and are committed to building good relationships with those they work with every day.
  • Proactive and clear communication: They communicate well with their team and colleagues across the organization.
When there's a delay, or something goes wrong, they are proactive about updating those affected or asking for help if they need it.
Salary, Benefits and Other Details:
Workday. The Lead Maintenance Worker position is a full-time, 40 hours per week position reporting directly to the Director of Operations. The position is a year-round position, 7am-3:30p.m., with flexibility required during some early mornings and evenings for building emergencies or inclement weather. Additional flexibility will be required during school breaks and summer hours. Salary. The yearly pay for this position is $50K. Vacation and Benefits. In addition, we are proud to currently offer:
    Medical Insurance:
    95% paid by LC regardless of plan type (single, family, etc.) $8k
    • 20k value, depending on type of coverage.
    • 401k
    Retirement:
    No waiting period for voluntary contributions; 7% base salary match after 1 year of work. 3 years of work to be fully vested.
      Life Insurance:
      $50k life insurance plan free of charge while you are employed by LC.
      • Time off: Details around vacation benefits will be reviewed with the final candidate during the hiring process.
      Optional Insurance:

      • 100% employee paid.
