Buildings & Grounds Maintenance Worker The Providence Country Day School - 3.6 East Providence, RI Job Details Full-time 2 hours ago Qualifications High school diploma or GED Driver's License Full Job Description The Providence Country Day School (PCD) seeks a skilled and dependable Maintenance Worker to support the daily operation, maintenance, and appearance of our growing campus. Reporting to the Facilities Manager, this position plays an essential role in maintaining a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and families. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in facilities maintenance, strong problem-solving abilities, and a collaborative approach to supporting a vibrant school community. Key Responsibilities Maintain school buildings, grounds, athletic fields, and campus equipment in excellent condition Assist in promoting the safety, health, and comfort of all students and employees in school buildings and grounds Perform preventative maintenance and repairs related to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general facilities systems Assist with snow removal, lawn care, landscaping, and seasonal campus upkeep Support school events through setup and breakdown of equipment and materials Monitor and maintain safety standards, building systems, and regulatory compliance Respond to maintenance requests and complete work orders efficiently Maintain tools, supplies, maintenance records, and vendor relationships Assist with emergency response needs, including after-hours building, security, or fire alarm issues Maintain an inventory of essential equipment, tools, supplies, and replacement parts to ensure smooth operations Collaborate closely with the Facilities Manager and other campus departments to support school operations Other duties as assigned or required to maintain campuses in the highest level of condition This list is illustrative only and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by the position. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or degree preferred Minimum 3 years of facilities, maintenance, construction, or related experience Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building systems Ability to operate maintenance equipment, lawn machinery, and school vehicles Familiarity with computers, software, mobile phones, tablets, and email Ability to read safety data sheets, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and chemical labels Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills Customer and team focused: Ability to engage collaboratively and diplomatically with a wide diversity of stakeholders and team members Valid driver's license required Experience in a school or educational setting preferred CPR/AED certification preferred Physical & Work Requirements This is a full-time, on-site position that includes indoor and outdoor work year-round. Candidates must be able to lift up to 75 pounds, climb ladders, operate machinery, and respond to occasional after-hours or emergency maintenance needs.
