Full Job Description Overview:
Abacus Technology is seeking a Maintenance Trades Helper to provide telecommunications support for Joint Base Charleston. This is a full-time position.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and install connectors for use in local area networks (LAN) and automated communications systems. Utilize test equipment such as LAN testers, fiber testers, and other continuity testers. Create and maintain database, and modify program contents to provide for new data preferred experience with office systems. Coordinate with other departments as necessary to perform operational maintenance tests, interface with equipment, and change requirements affecting maintenance and installation activities. Review, update, and generate documents supporting the communication systems.
Qualifications:
1+ years experience providing installation and maintenance for copper and fiber cables supporting voice and data networks. Experience with LAN/WAN and telecommunication networks. Must possess the understanding and knowledge of basic electronic principles, fiber optics and light wave transmissions. Capable of reading and interpreting technical drawings including infrastructure design and splicing diagrams. Familiar with test equipment and cable testing procedures. Knowledge of safety precautions related to cable splicing. May be required to crawl under/behind customer work environments to gain access to client systems. Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds unassisted. May be required to perform physical acts such climbing to obtain access to systems. Must be comfortable working in an office environment and outside in a variety of conditions. Must be a US citizen.
