•Michael J Fitzmaurice Veterans Home. For more information on the Department of Veterans Affairs, please visit https://vetaffairs.sd.gov/ . This position is a full-time position at the Michael J. Fitzmaurice South Dakota Veterans Home and requires a dedication and commitment to "Caring for America's Heroes". This position is a valued member of the Physical Plant Department will primarily complete custodial duties, but also include some light maintenance duties. The successful incumbent will require the ability to repair / paint walls, perform routine maintenance, operate groundskeeping equipment in all types of weather, perform and maintain high levels of cleanliness throughout the building consisting of resident rooms, restrooms, and public areas. Responsibilities require standing, bending, and reaching for long periods of time.
Licenses and Certifications:
Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid driver's license.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
A minimum of two years related work experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. Supply and inventory experience is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
knowledge of Environmental Services in a healthcare environment; organizational skills in order to multi-task and manage multiple tasks; ability to effectively communicate with residents, other staff, and team members as required, both verbally and in writing; ability to operate machinery, mowers, snow blowers, floor cleaning equipment, etc.; ability to learn new skills that are required for successfully completing the assigned tasks; ability to adapt to the ever-changing duties as they are assigned; ability to lift more than 50 pounds.
