Job Description

RANCH GROUNDSKEEPER AND MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
Rusty Hook Ranch is seeking a dependable and experienced individual to assist with lawn care, landscaping, groundskeeping, building maintenance, event preparation, and general property repairs. This is a hands-on outdoor position for someone with a broad range of practical skills. Job duties may change from day to day. The person hired must be comfortable performing several different types of maintenance and groundskeeping work as needed. This is not strictly a mowing or landscaping position. The successful applicant must be willing and able to perform groundskeeping, spraying, trimming, plumbing repairs, digging, cleanup, minor construction, equipment operation, event preparation, and general maintenance throughout the ranch.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Applicants must have previous work experience with: Lawn care, landscaping, and general grounds maintenance Operating zero-turn lawn mowers Operating weed eaters, edgers, blowers, and other lawn equipment Using hedge trimmers and shrub-trimming equipment Identifying common plants, grasses, shrubs, and weeds Applying weed killers, herbicides, pesticides, fertilizers, and similar lawn-treatment products safely Mixing and operating chemical sprayers according to product instructions Using common hand tools and power tools Reading and accurately using a measuring tape Using saws, drills, wrenches, ratchets, and other basic maintenance tools Measuring, cutting, assembling, and installing materials Repairing and cutting plumbing, water lines, pipes, and related materials Performing minor plumbing and water-line repairs Digging holes, trenching, and shoveling dirt Performing minor building, mechanical, and general property-maintenance work The successful applicant must be able to follow instructions, identify maintenance problems, work independently when needed, and complete assigned tasks without constant supervision.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
The following experience is helpful but not required: Operating a forklift Driving a tractor Operating farm or ranch equipment Connecting and using tractor attachments and implements Performing basic equipment maintenance and repairs
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities may include: Mowing lawns and maintaining open areas Weed eating, edging, blowing, and cleaning landscaped areas Trimming shrubs, bushes, trees, and other vegetation Identifying and treating weeds, insects, and lawn problems Applying herbicides, pesticides, fertilizers, and weed-control products Maintaining flower beds, roadsides, fences, common areas, and recreational spaces Removing trash from buildings and outdoor areas daily Picking up trash, limbs, leaves, and debris throughout the property Inspecting the property for daily maintenance issues Repairing water lines, plumbing, piping, and minor leaks Digging holes, trenches, and drainage areas Shoveling and moving dirt, gravel, mulch, and other materials Cleaning and properly storing tools, machinery, and equipment Performing minor repairs to buildings, fixtures, fencing, and outdoor facilities Measuring, cutting, assembling, and installing materials as directed Assisting with event setup, teardown, cleanup, and property preparation Maintaining lodging areas, event spaces, ranch buildings, and outdoor activity areas Completing other ranch and property-maintenance duties as assigned This position requires flexibility. Several different projects may be underway at the same time, and the employee may need to use multiple skills during the same workday.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be physically able to: Lift and carry approximately 50 to 60 pounds without assistance Repeatedly bend, kneel, squat, and get up and down from the ground Climb ladders safely Get into and out of tight or confined areas without assistance Stand and walk for extended periods Push, pull, carry, and operate heavy lawn and maintenance equipment Dig, shovel, rake, trim, mow, and perform other physically demanding tasks Work outdoors in high heat, humidity, cold, rain, and changing weather conditions Applicants should already be accustomed to physically demanding outdoor work in Texas weather.
SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS
Must be dependable and report to work as scheduled Must be available to work weekends when needed Must be available for occasional after-hours work Must be willing to assist with event setup and teardown Work hours may vary depending on maintenance needs, weather, events, and property operations
QUALIFICATIONS
Previous lawn-care, landscaping, groundskeeping, ranch-maintenance, construction, plumbing, or property-maintenance experience is required Must have reliable personal transportation to and from work each scheduled day Must be punctual, dependable, and able to work responsibly without constant supervision Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions Must understand equipment safety and proper chemical handling Must take pride in keeping the property clean, attractive, safe, and well maintained Must be willing to perform a wide variety of duties as the needs of the ranch change Must be able to safely and responsibly use ranch equipment, tools, machinery, and chemical products Must be willing to perform daily trash removal and routine property cleanup

Rusty Hook Ranch is looking for someone who takes pride in their work, notices what needs to be done, and is willing to help wherever needed. The ideal applicant will be dependable, experienced, physically capable, and comfortable working independently in an outdoor ranch environment.
Pay:
$12.00 - $20.00 per hour
