Job Description
As a Water Distribution Maintenance Worker I for the City of Borger, you play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the city's water distribution system. This entry-level position involves hands-on tasks related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of water lines, meters, and associated infrastructure. Maintenance and Repair :
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on water distribution systems, including pipes, valves, hydrants, and service lines.Installation Tasks :
Assist in the installation of new water distribution infrastructure, including laying pipe and installing meters and hydrants.System Monitoring :
Monitor the condition of the water distribution system and report any issues or potential problems to supervisors.Emergency Response :
Participate in emergency response teams for water leaks, pipe bursts, and other urgent maintenance issues.Tools and Equipment Operation :
Safely operate tools and equipment necessary for maintenance and repair tasks, such as wrenches, shovels, and mechanical cutters.Compliance and Safety :
Adhere to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements to ensure operations are carried out safely and compliantly.Education :
High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certifications in plumbing, pipefitting, or a related field are a plus.Experience :
Experience in construction, plumbing, or a related field is beneficial but not required.Certifications :
Certification from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) as a Class C Water Operator within 2 y ears of the date of employment.Skills :
Basic understanding of water distribution systems, ability to use hand and power tools, good physical condition.Personal Traits :
