MAINTENANCE WORKER I
Job Summary and Principal Duties:
Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing manual labor within a wide variety of landscaping, construction, and maintenance assignments. Worker must have a general knowledge of landscaping, fertilizers, pesticides, and maintenance basics. Duties include but are not limited to: Performs maintenance duties which may include sweeping, mopping, picking up debris, cutting grass and weeds, mowing, watering, and caring for plants. Operates lawn equipment such as lawn tractors and weed eaters. Maintains all equipment used in clean and operational condition. Inspects equipment and reports any equipment in need of maintenance or repair. Cleans District facilities for various events and rentals. Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting and carrying. Works outside, around machinery with moving parts; exposure to extreme temperatures; exposure to dampness and humidity; exposure to slippery and uneven surfaces. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the general public. Additional duties as assigned. Applicants must meet the following qualifications: 1. One (1) year of general labor, landscaping, or relevant maintenance experience. 2. High School Diploma or equivalent. 3. Bilingual (preferred). 4. Valid Class ''C'' Texas Driver's License. 5. Able to lift 50 to 80 pounds on a regular basis and efficiently perform all job requirements. 6. Any applicant conditionally selected for this position will be required to submit to a background check as well as pre-employment drug screening. Full completion of pre-employment drug testing with a verified negative result is a condition of employment.
Work Schedule:
Varies based on assignment. Shifts are 10 hours long with a 30-minute lunch break. Weekend and holiday work may be required based on assignment.
