Killeen, TX Job Details From $17.53 an hour 21 hours ago Benefits Paid holidays Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance Gym membership Life insurance Qualifications Mechanical repair High school diploma or GED Driver's License Welding repair Facilities routine maintenance Full Job Description Airport Specialist To perform a full range of landside and airside maintenance duties; performs preventive maintenance and repair of a wide variety of machinery and equipment, ensuring efficient, safe, and productive operations The employee will have the responsibility of: Overseeing airside and landside grounds by ensuring all areas are mowed, edged, and landscaped; ensures all irrigation and watering systems for the grounds are operable and maintained Ensuring herbicide and pesticide applications are properly and safely dispensed according to Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) Policy Performing a full range of indoor/outdoor semi-skilled construction and maintenance projects as needed Performing airfield inspections in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Department of Defense (DOD) regulations Assisting in inventory control and making purchases needed to operate facility Using Airport Operations, VHF, and administrative radio systems in accordance with Federal Communication Commission (FCC) procedures Overseeing security checks of perimeter, airfield and terminal fencing and gates The work environment will require the employee to: Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic chemicals Work near aircraft with high noise levels As an employee with the city of Killeen some benefits are: Health insurance from Blue Cross Blue Shield of TX Dental and Vision insurance Life insurance Retirement through TMRS (Optional 4579(b) Accounts) Paid Vacation and Sick Leave 13 paid holidays
Wellness Events & Free Gym Membership Required Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience:
A high school diploma or equivalent Two (2) years of Electrical/HVAC experience, one (1) year of mechanical/welding experience, one (1) year of building maintenance experience, six (6) months of grounds maintenance experience or equivalent combination of education or certification and experience for each area
Special Requirements:
Must have a valid Texas driver's license by date-of-hire Must obtain an Herbicide Applicator's License within one (1) year of notification. May be required to work nights, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts. Will be required to perform on-call responsibilities. Must pass a criminal history, fingerprint-based, record check and background check. Must pass a fingerprint-based background check by date-of-hire.
