Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY
Performs work necessary for the maintenance and repair of all city buildings and equipment.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
This position receives direct supervision from the Public Works Superintendent (Streets). This position does not supervise any other positions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include but are not limited to the following: Replacement of filters and belts on central heat and air equipment Proper adjustments of doors and locking mechanisms Replacement of plumbing fixtures and cleaning of drain Replacement of worn or damaged electrical equipment Service on refrigeration units (excluding Freon handling) Miscellaneous building repairs such as painting and replacing floor and ceiling tiles Janitorial duties such as cleaning, sweeping and mopping city facilities Setup rooms for classes and meetings Assist with fleet maintenance as needed Assists in other department activities as needed Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed Work weekends, holidays and special events as needed Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or GED; some construction-related experience is preferred; knowledge of backhoe, crack sealer, dump truck, front-end loader, jackhammer and various hand tools.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Valid Class C Texas driver license; CDL preferred.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES
Must possess the visual acuity to operate a computer terminal and city vehicle Walk, stand, or sit, for prolonged periods of time Regularly push, pull, lift, and/or carry up 10 pounds Frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds Occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 100 pounds or more Occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist Operate office equipment including use of a computer keyboard Speak and hear to exchange information in English Operate a vehicle to travel to various locations The City of Lake Worth is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
