Job Description

The incumbent is responsible for maintaining a healthy, safe environment of all city facilities for the enjoyment of the citizens of Marion. General Job function is to efficiently and effectively perform maintenance operations; including operating machinery and performing maintenance tasks. Employee will be On-Call once a month for a week, and be responsible for Weekend checks for both water/wastewater system.
Qualifications:
General Requirements U.S. Citizen High school graduation or its equivalent Experience in maintenance work desirable; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities Must be able to pass a background investigation, physical evaluation and drug screening Licenses and Certifications Valid Texas driver's license OR valid out of state license with ability to obtain a Texas license within six months of employment A license for application of herbicides and pesticides is preferred but not required Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, statutes, regulations, codes, and standards related to the area of responsibility. Knowledge of City policies and procedures. Ability to work alone at night and/or weekends maintaining and policing all activities at City facilities Ability to perform mowing operations with wide area, zero turn rotary, or reel type mowing equipment Safety practices and principles related to the use of hand and power tools and water line maintenance Thorough knowledge of the safe and proper operation of equipment including safety standards to prevent hazards Thorough knowledge of the safe and proper operation of motor vehicles including provisions of the Texas Motor Vehicle Code Sufficient skills to service and make minor repairs on equipment Sufficient knowledge of technical skills related to the work of maintenance Sufficient knowledge of plant care
