Job Description

Golf Maintenance Worker I Salary Range $38,854.40 - $57,984.80 depending on experience. Benefits Package Full City Benefits Package Hurricane City covers 100% of the premiums for the High Deductible health plan for full-time employees and their qualified dependents. New hires receive 40 hours of vacation time after successful completion of their probationary period, and an additional 40 hours of vacation at their one-year mark. Position Summary Performs a variety of entry level semi-skilled and skilled duties in maintaining the City owned Golf Course. Supervision Received Works under the general supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent. Essential Functions (Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. The list of tasks is illustrative only and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class.) Operates heavy equipment such as gang mowers, fairway mowers, rough mowers, sprayers, spreaders and other utility vehicles as directed. Operates hydraulic triplex green and tee mowers, tractors, backhoes, and large reel mowers on greens, tees, fairways, and roughs. Performs manual labor such as hand mowing, weed eating, sodding, raking bunkers, edging turf, etc. Performs general grounds maintenance and repair work of cart paths, restrooms, etc. Performs minor maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment daily. Assists with the application of fertilizers, chemicals, etc. Performs miscellaneous related golf course maintenance duties as required. Performs other related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Equivalent Possess a valid Utah Driver's License throughout employment. Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening required. May be required to obtain a valid CDL. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Basic English composition, spelling, grammar and computer skills. Standard safety precautions. Working knowledge of general pipe laying, irrigation system repair, sprinkler systems and plumbing maintenance; some knowledge of motorized equipment maintenance, operation, and minor repair. Knowledge of tools, equipment and techniques used in maintenance, landscapes, irrigation systems and hardscapes which may include basic construction projects. Knowledge of standard safety procedures and precautions relating to equipment operations and the loading and unloading of materials. Operation of a variety of hand tools and equipment common to landscape trades. Ability to operate gang mowers, fairway mowers, rough mowers, and other utility vehicles. Perform outdoor manual labor for extended periods of time. Perform various semi-skilled and skilled functions related to building and landscape maintenance. Develop effective working relationships with supervisors, subordinates and the public. Typical Physical/Mental Demands/Working Conditions Incumbent of the position performs moderate physical activity. Required to push, pull or lift medium heavy weights. May have uncomfortable working positions such as stooping, crouching and bending. Moderate exposure to elements such as heat, cold dampness, fumes, noise, dust or grease. May have disagreeable elements such as appearance of workplace, poor ventilation or uneven temperatures. Occupational safety and health hazards may be encountered under controlled conditions. Some exposure to hazardous materials such as fumes, pesticides, cleaning agents, etc. High levels of noise. Function within construction areas, trenches and confined spaces. Exposure to stress as a result of human behavior. Condition of Employment Employee may be required to work extended or irregular hours such as nights, weekends and holidays. Hurricane City employment can require employees to occasionally work outside of their normal job duties to assist with city sponsored events and/or projects. The employee is expected to forgo normal work duties to assist with the completion of these events and/or projects. In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services.
