Job Description
Overview Holiday Inn Express is seeking a reliable, proactive, and hands-on Maintenance Worker to help keep our hotel safe, clean, comfortable, and well maintained for our guests and team members. This position is responsible for performing general repairs, preventative maintenance, groundskeeping, and basic upkeep throughout the hotel, guest rooms, public areas, mechanical areas, and exterior spaces. The ideal candidate should have basic mechanical knowledge, be comfortable using hand and power tools, and have the ability to troubleshoot maintenance issues quickly and professionally. This role is important in helping us maintain a high standard of guest satisfaction, safety, and overall property appearance. Duties and Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance and repairs in guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, and exterior property spaces. Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair basic hotel systems including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, lighting, doors, locks, appliances, and general building equipment. Respond promptly to guest room maintenance requests and complete work orders in a professional and timely manner. Conduct preventative maintenance to help keep rooms, equipment, and hotel facilities in good working condition. Maintain hotel grounds, including mowing, trimming, landscaping, snow removal, and seasonal outdoor upkeep as needed. Assist with painting, drywall repair, minor carpentry, furniture repairs, and general property improvements. Keep mechanical rooms, storage areas, maintenance shop, and work areas clean, organized, and safe. Ensure all tools, equipment, and supplies are used properly and safely. Follow hotel safety procedures and report any hazards, damages, or major repair needs to management. Support the hotel team with special projects and other maintenance-related duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous maintenance experience in a hotel, apartment, facility, or similar property is preferred. Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general repairs. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, lawn equipment, and basic maintenance equipment safely. Ability to lift, bend, climb ladders, stand for long periods, and perform physical work indoors and outdoors. Must be dependable, organized, and able to complete tasks with minimal supervision. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Good communication skills and a professional attitude when assisting guests and team members. Flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, and emergency maintenance needs when required.
